Simply, the project is about a network security solution using SDN and Mininet. I want to create a topolgy in mininet, and configure an SDN controller (ryu if possible) in order to control the forwarding of the packets. the configuration consists of the following : 1-build SDN network with one controller and set of routers and nodes 2- Define a two rows table that indicate for each host all the hosts that can reach it based on the IP address ( first row of the table: IP address for the destination host. second row of the table: IP address for all the allowed origin hosts) 3- Dfine a rule to forward or drop based on the previous table. if the origin host is included on the second row of the table for a destination host than forward else drop.
We have an already built piece of software written in C, running on Ubuntu. There is a situation when the program crashes 100%. This seems to be a segmentation fault. The program runs over Mininet. - The program has to be debugged and fixed. There is no Visual Studio solution, however debugging is possible with Valgrind / GDC for example, also the program itself outputs some info in the logs. This program is an advanced networking software. We will provide a VM with everything installed and running, as well as info on how to reproduce the crash. The Mininet script will launch 5 instances of the program which will run in the same time. You will need Oracle VirtualBox and a machine with 16Gb RAM and Intel I5 or equivalent computation power.
