Solidworks Simulation and Motion Study non-linear

I have a very simple problem doing a nonlinear motion study with plastic in a snap and hook arrangement. The setup is almost identical to the Solidworks Simulation tutorial for snap and hook simulation.
The problem is the source part does not deform as it makes contact with the target part, it simply moves away from it. I think the issue might relate to fixtures, contact or mates.
For someone who has experience in nonlinear simulation in solidworks this will be a very simple and quick fix.
I have the assembly and parts ready.
I have some more work on this for project the right person.
