I'm seeking skillful software developers to design an automatic updater for proprietary software used by my clients in the field. Here's what the project will involve: - The target devices are Windows-based laptops. Experience with Windows OS is therefore essential - The software to be automatically updated is proprietary. A proven ability to effectively manage and update such software is necessary - The updater should work effectively and consistently on field laptops, minimizing downtime and ensuring the software always stays current. A vendor with previous experience in similar projects will be highly preferred. A clear understanding of software deployment and update strategies, as well as an understanding of Windows desktop environments, will be crucial to delivering a satisfactory result. We envision something along the lines of a popup notification letting them know there is a new update available for download - once they click the notification - the updated files will be downloaded directly to their PC in the correct directories - overwriting the file automatically. From my side (Admin) I can simply use an FTP program to upload the files that have been updated. The system should check the server every 2 hours to see if there is anything new. We will test your work exhaustively on numerous PCs before closing the job and deploying a live demo to the techs. Your script to check the server should be unobtrusive and small in size. We are looking for a SIMPLE and quick solution.
