I am looking at a way to introduce FEC, (forward error correction) into video streaming. Either by using VLC or FFMPEG. I need it to be compliant to the RFC2733 so that I dont need to use custom software/hardware on either end. Here is what I need.
I need a encoding application either using vlc or ffmpeg that can encode and transmit with FEC.
I need a decoding application either vlc or ffmpeg that can decode the received stream that has the FEC.
I have hardware that I can test for decoding too. The encoding must be compatible with any normal broadcast hardware.
Mpeg2 and H.264 support is mandatory.
I have good knowledge of FEC methods and have experience with ffmpeg and VLC. I am more familiar with ffmpeg rather than VLC. Anyway both of them have almost equal capabilities. So I think we can use either of those tools. I am ready for more discussion about the video standard and format requirements.
