I have a digital signage network on a local LAN with a number of computers and LED screens running PowerPoint 2010. I have some software that was written that enables me to be able to send MS PowerPoint keystrokes (SPACEBAR or ARROW KEYS etc) to multiple computers on the network simultaneously to trigger the change of slides. The software has 2 parts to it which are detailed in the attached PDF. This software was written using Python - I DO NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL BUILD FILES The Server side software needs to be modified with an additional feature. I need to be able to send a command to the groups to open a file. My vision is that the file be located in a common directory on each computer (C: _SIGNAGE-FILES). This directory location can be hard coded into the server application. A new "Open File" Icon and text will be added to the menu. Once clicked the operator will see a popup "File Open Form" with the following fields - Group - Client - File - Time - Delay - Summary The operator can then type the file name in ([login to view URL]). An OPEN button will allow this command to be triggered An entry would then be added to the browser display table.

Heya. Interesting project. Python does not compile to byte-code the same way that a C program would. The original sources can be restored from the files (.exe, .pyc). From the screenshots I don't think the web server is written in python. I'm curious to see the files you already have. Essentially you want to add an action for RUN FILE given a file name. When the client receives this action then it will run the file C:\_SIGNAGE-FILES\<name>. -- What about already open instances of [powerpoint]? If each client opens two files then when will the files close? I am worried about the delay after running the file. How long to wait until pressing play and going in to presentation mode. If the command is to be [login to view URL] /autoplay <filename> then that would be helpful. This wouldn't work if the file is not powerpoint. You state that your vision is to manually copy the files to each client. Why not allow the manager to send to each client? This can be done thru the tcp connection or via the web server interface?
