I have several years of experience in working with various trading platforms. I haven't use IRESS API, but I see that they offer SOAP that shoudl be easy to implement using Visual Studio. I write mainly in C# but as it is .NET technology some parts can be easy reused for Visual C++ or even Python ( inside Visual Studio). So I can write the application that connects to the IRESS API and could connect to the other resources like QuantConnect for the backesting etc. That application could also have some graphic interface for trading etc. This is only a suggestion, of course there are many other solutions possible, depending on your needs and so does the price, but I try to be as cheap as possible.
