Troubleshoot Visual Composer Element Issue (wordpress)

We have a custom WordPress theme, however the latest update of visual composer has caused an issue with our accordion display - the old accordian element was depreciated, but we cant get the new one to display properly. Weve reported it to them and confirmed it doesnt look to be a bug. When i switch to twentyfifteen theme to test, i can see the accordian is working correctly. but when i switch back to my theme it doesnt display again. so it looks to be a theme conflict. Ive completed the following with no luck 1. disabled all plugins except visual composer (still an problem) 2. switched to twentyfifteen (accordion shows ok) 3. With my theme enabled i've stripped the header and footer of any custom CSS or JS inclusions , scripts enqueuing etc (still a problem)
