I have an existing website ([login to view URL]) where the concept (among other things) is that there is "space" behind the existing webpage. I have achieved this idea by creating an image map that slides into view when the website logo is clicked on (this part of the website modification is done).
What I want to do now is polish the transitions when the user navigates from one webpage to the next.
1) When user enters the home page, the entire logo is shown. When user clicks the logo, user is taken to a contents page. The transition from homepage -> contents page is too abrupt. It should somehow appear like it "slides up". Not sure how to achieve that. This behavior should only happen from homepage -> contents page (i.e. the "sliding up" of contents page (or any other pages in the website) should not occur if user comes straight from an external link, like a google or a link from a page that is external to the website).
2) When user clicks a link in the image map, the current behavior is that the page slides up and -then- it gets updated to the chosen link. What should happen is that, when user clicks a link, the page should be updated first before it slides up. (The links in the image map will always be internal to the site and not go outside the website - if that helps). The user should not be able to "see" that the page is updated. If this option is not possible, then another alternative (maybe not as polished) is that once user clicks a link, the new webpage will be displayed without the webpage "sliding up". In this way, the user doesn't see that the page is being updated.
