this is the beggining of a larger project. i have already done a degree of adaptation within access, but now want to proceed with VB and will look at performing the entire program throughout stages.
below is stage 1
I have an access database that sits is the backend for my web cart, I require an application to easily manage the products within the web site. There are two tables of interest first the sections table. This contains a listing of the sections in our catalogue. Only end the sections are broken into two types those that can have sections added to them, and those that can have products added to them. This is defined by the field "Root Section" that where 0=allow sub categories, and 1= allow products.
The next table is the products table that lists all the Products in the database, and they are then associated to a section.
Currently these sections are created using dropdowns to decide which section they are attached to and products in a similar way
What I want is the ability to create the section/directory hierarchy in a graphical fashion and add products to it by drag and drop. This would also allow adding multiple items to a section
My thoughts
left pane showing sections structure (similar to windows explorer) that allows right mouse click dropdown to create new sub section. Or drag an existing section to branch off of another section
Right pane showing products that are in that section, then being able to highlight one or multiple files and drag them to a different section. A filter will be required. I.e. type a keyword at the top of the pane to filter only those products containing that word in any field.
You can also view what the web cart looks like in its current structure at [login to view URL] if you go to products > EO you will see a great many categories and then the products in each, to sort this manually and manage in the current form is near impossible.
