I have a linux server, and I would like to have a email server installed on this machine, so that people can send email to and pick up this email via POP3. I would also need the mailbox setup to be scriptable via PHP scripts. So, if I call [login to view URL] then a mailbox called Peter XatX [login to view URL] will be set up with a 10MB size limit, and the POP3 passwrd will be 1234 The script should respond "OK", if the mail box has been set up, and an Error message if the mail box already exists, or some other problem happened. The mail server must be set up so that it will re-start automatically if the linux machine reboots. I will also need to know how I can routinely back up settings and stored email.
