Overview of Project: The Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS) provides real estate brokerage firms with a database of properties and businesses available for sale in Western Washington State. The NWMLS provides these listings in XML format. There are (9) categories of listings each with their own unique XML data structure. Real Estate brokerages wishing to display properties for sale from this database must do the following: 1) Access the NWMLS data feed at least once daily to download all new/updated data for properties and corresponding images 2) Convert that data from XML format and insert into their database of choice--in our case we'll be inserting this data into a MySQL database, with (9) tables -- one for each property category 3) Images for the property listings are stored separately. At any given time the NWMLS system may have 500,000 photos for the roughly 35,000 active & inactive property listings they track 4) Each day we need to check to see if (a) new images have been added for a property and if so download from the NWMLS server and re-upload to our server; (b) if old images have been removed from a listing, delete those from our server Operating Environment: Database: MySQL Lanquage: ColdFusion System: Linux Hosting Source: MediaTemple Deliverables: What I need is this- 1) Since this is a brand new database/website set up I need the (9) XML files parsed and inserted into the database to initiate the process 2) Thereafter, I'm assuming I need a PERL script (or recommended equivalent) that will call out to the NWMLS data server 1 to 3 times per day to check for updated data and download/insert that new or changed data to our MySQL database.
