Improved PHP Automated thumbnailing

This project deals with materials of an adult nature. Please do not bid if you are uncomfortable working with such content. I currently have a system designed to obtain images from a variety sites and thumbnail those images automatically in various sizes. My problem is the thumbnails are typically of subpar quality in that either the image gets resized too small, or the cropping isn't smart enough to get rid of more of the background details and focus instead on the models detailed in the image. Basically what I'm looking for is a PHP based function that can take an image (typically over 500x500 in dimensions) and be able to use more advanced methods of smart-cropping to know what part of the image is worth cropping and what can be discarded. I understand it will be impossible to always be accurate but even something simple like being able to detect flesh tones and using that as a reference for determining cropping/resizing points would be a great help. I would prefer to use PHP's internal GD system for the image manipulation, use of imagemagick is acceptable if you can convince me you can accomplish what I need using it. In your bid, please specify reference work (if available), approximate timeframe and any suggestions you have for implementing better smart cropping/resizing of images that you would be able to do for me. Edit: The function will need to be able to take the following information: -> Location of sample large image (whether local or web) -> Height and width of final thumbnail -> Location to store generated thumbnail -> Specification of quality of thumbnail (all thumbnails are to be .jpg files)

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
