i need help connecting phpmyadmin to MySql 8 DB. For some reason, it is failing to connect. I have tried the basic steps and it is still failing so need someone who knows the solution for MySql 8 specifically please. Please do not respond if your experience is only with MySQL LESS THAN 8.x. Thank you for your understanding. Specifics of the issue: The Apache web server at http://localhost is fine. The phpMyAdmin web site comes up at: http://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php. However, when i log in as root, i get the error: "Cannot log in to the MySQL server". All work is being done on RHEL Linux I can log in fine with the root password using mysql on the command line and can also connect using MySQL Workbench so it seems to be a problem specifically with the phpMyAdmin web interface
