Dear Sir, I am well experience in configuring rsync and other replication software to configure backup servers for enterprise applications. If you consider real time replication to replicate file to backup server there are linux tool which will not required to add cron job. I have done few deployment for my clients and it was success and it can monitor. Also possible to create backup dump to USB drive which attached to the server. What you are asking is very lame thing to do but if that's what you want I can do that. (I have worked as Site Administrator at Rocket Internet and has architect pretty many venture of it) But if I was you, I would have done the following: (These suggestions are based on limited information given) 1. May be shifting to AWS Cloud than Go Daddy be a better idea. Its highly unlikely that it will go down, further if one Data Centre of AWS do go down (this going down means redundancy of 500+ failed), thanks to multi AZ deployment your website will still be online from other data centre. 2. If your website is static or mix of static and dynamic, may be you should consider using a CDN. CDN not only ensure serving cache data when your website is down, also severely reduces the load on your servers while keeping the site lightening fast irrespective of how bad your code is. And say if you use a CDN like Akamai and you are like what if Akamai goes down then 75% of internet would go down including Facebook, Apple because all of them use Akamai for serving their pages. 3. If you want to continue with GoDaddy Servers, backing up your data on another cloud say AWS would be a better idea. Because server to server sync would be lighting fast except if your local server has a lightning fast internet connectivity. Moreover, you won't have the hazel to backup your local server harddisk because good cloud services provide 500+ redundancy of your data over multi continent DC. mr to tl ovr cht
