create a formula and or macro that identifies the 'x' and 'y' coordinates of the turning points within a tabular series of stock market data points where 'x' values are time and 'y' values are OHLC of a stock price.
I am using excel 2010.
I have attached an excel spreadsheet with sample data.
I would like the option to find the turning points based on percentage thresholds as well as absolute value thresholds. For example, if by percentage, I enter a percent value threshold where all price oscillations less than the threshold are ignored and if by absolute value, I enter a price value in dollars and cents (i.e. o.40 or 1.25) where all price oscillations less than the threshold are ignored.
I also want to be able to specify data range and if I want to use just one component of the OHLC data series or the OC or HL combination for identifying the zig zag points.
I'd like to identify each turning point as a top or bottom (peak or valley). This can be done via inserting a +1 (for peak) or -1(for valley) in an adjacent cell.
The code/programming must be efficient and fast. If your code works well, this may be ported to another programming language as a subroutine or module. This will be a separate project.
