Hi, We are a team of three members in embedded platform, by going through the requirements we have got a brief idea in implementing the counter. Micro-controller we can opt from ATmel family. To measure the count we can used IR Transmitter and Receiver. Wireless data transmission 100mtr we should use Zigbee. Each device can be identified by the corresponding MAC Id stored in the EEPROM. For 1 year battery backup we have to use 12v 3ah battery(lead acid small type). Please consider this as the proposal of one device.
