Project Description: I am seeking a skilled freelancer to convert an existing Word document (procedure manual) into a format that meets editorial standards and is acceptable to leadership and learned reviewers. It is currently about 40- pages, a few tables need to be included. It does have images, but they could be more robust == most are screenshots. This manual intends to provide a high-level overview of the role of an individual who is a delivery lead in our system upgrade program. The current document is in Word format and needs significant improvement in editorial standards. The desired format after conversion is a Word document that can still be edited. Specific requirements for editorial standards and guidelines will be provided. Editorial standards are less prevalent than all the content provided, and we do not want them. The award winner will modify this content. What we are looking for is FORMATTING == is the formatting that one would expect in professional documents. These, in many ways, amount to procedures that reflect workflows. The below reflect the types of standards our organization utilizes. 1. All content apart from a few bullet points and otherwise must be FLUSH LEFT and aligned with the left margin. 2. All of our headings are in the same format as the content but of a larger size. THey are in different colors. We do NOT number or alphabetize our headings in a document of this size (less than 40 pages). 3. Similar to British composition standards, we do NOT capitalize content beyond acronyms, the title of the document, and chapter headings. Apart from proper nouns, capitalization of words is banned. ] 4. We do not use bold or italicized content except for rare occasions. \ 5. The writer must demonstrate an ability to understand constant balancing --how much content is excessive and too low. These are subjective but seem inherent to professional formatting. 6. Figures are numbered. Most of our figures consume only part of the width. There is the expectation that relative text is alongside the figure. This should be done using Microsoft columns or similar. The use of text boxes is deterred (this document will have them as the author needs to gain these skills). 7. No significant gaps are permitted apart from chapter endings ( chapters start as the top items of the page it inhabits). If some modification of text and figures is required to fill a page, that is acceptable. 8. We prefer using a Calibri 12 font style since it is universally available. 9. The spacing and formatting of the content should render it easy to read. This means NOT considering the content == just the formatting. 10. This documentation is relative to workflows. We know many of these workflows need to be revised as they were completed by another resource released due to their poor work standards. We will have to update all of these later, but for now, they will stand "as is." You are NOT obliged to change ANY workflows. 11. Provide appropriate spacing between paragraphs. Ours typically amounts to the equivalent of a five font. You can use Word's line spacing functions to fulfill these capabilities as long as they are acceptable. 12. OPTIONAL - we are open to a writer reviewing some of the content for things such as using an active voice and presenting professionally. However, this is ONLY allowed after all formatting is complete, and the individual can provide these skills without immense restructuring. This will only be for representation -- we do NOT want significant restructuring of written content. Again, this is optional and only permitted if we believe the resource can do this within the allowed budget. The original document needs to be provided here. 8. FIgures should have an appropriate one-line border. Figures should align with one another when presented jointly. Ideal Skills and Experience: - Strong proficiency in editing and formatting Word documents - Excellent attention to detail and knowledge of editorial standards - Ability to transform content into a professional and polished format - Experience working with leadership and learned reviewers - Flexibility to incorporate specific guidelines and preferences in the document
