Informational Video Scripts

I am the best candidate for this project because I have professional experience writing scripts. I know the difference between an informational video, a professional commercial, and a product description because I have written the latter two in professional settings.. [login to view URL] Further, I have been a classroom teacher and this means I took information that is complex and boring, and created a story with the information buried inside--I made the students WANT to learn it. How do I know I was good at this? My middle school students (never an easy audience) begged me to create YouTube videos. Here's what I do. First, I determine reading level. Nothing is worse than a script this is too far above (or below) the reading level of the audience. Usually this is an 8th grade level for general population. Second, I find the hook. Why does the audience NEED this information? Not just want it, but NEED it. Third, I summarize the information succinctly, uwithout a lot of extra words, at the correct reading level, keeping in mind the major differences between written and spoken language. Fourth, I end with an action item or summary statement that reinforces the need to implement this information. I am a successful public speaker because I know how to engage audiences verbally. I am a successful script writer because I know how to write like I speak.
