I'm about to release a new site and would like 3 user-selectable designs. Each should look nice, be SIMPLE, and NOT use any images! As inspiration, see [url removed, login to view] -- which is sort of like a modern, lightweight alternative to the CSS Zen Garden. Please bid on 1 design; I will choose up to 3 different contractors. The CSS files will almost certainly be larger than 1k for this project, especially since I want a nicely-formatted, uncompressed CSS file that's easy to understand (with comments where appropriate). Here's the first page, a static snapshot of a page that will be dynamic for the real site: [url removed, login to view] It's ok to start with a CSS1k entry -- they use the MIT license. (Of course: you must credit the original even if you modify it substantially.) It's ok to make SOME changes to the HTML, especially if you can simplify it. (I didn't create it myself, so I won't be offended if you delete things!) But remember that others may also make changes, so I will eventually have to integrate into 1 version and update the CSS to match. There are additional pages to be done, but those will be handled as a separate project. NOT part of the bid but there is bonus potential for a nice script to change stylesheets -- saving the most recent choice in localStorage. Many of the pages on the real site will have query parameters, so I don't think the CSS1k script is the best starting point. (May use jQuery; may NOT use any other library without permission.) PLATFORM: should support the latest versions of Chrome, FireFox, and Safari on Mac and Windows. (I will test on a Mac.) MSIE, Opera and Linux would be nice -- as well as 'graceful degradation' for older browsers. Like the CSS1k, it's ok if the page looks a little different on each browser as long as it looks good. Be sure to read about validation, below. (Remember: no images.)
