wow, ok,... i really wasnt expecting the tremendous response from coders on this site, thank you to you all.
i thought it would be best if i explain in more detail the spec of this app i want to get written.
i have written a basic access db that holds our customers and user details .. its yuk, i hate it... i always said if i was going to do this properly, i'd start again.. so attached are screenshots in a zip file..
need to be able to add, edit users - users are part of a branch office and office is part of an organization
i would also like to be able to hold a table of products and assign a product(s) to a user, branch, or organisation.. (screen shot attached)... and some kind of event viewer so when a field gets changed, it logs who changed it and when... but these are optional extras ;)
hope this gives enough info to get a rough time estimate..

ok, here goes an explination..
i am trying to build a basic vb or vb.net application that talks to a database (mssql, mysql - dont care) that i can add to in the future,..
intially it really is just a customer database,.. it will hold users, users will belong to a branch (office) and the branch will belong to an organization.
i will work on adding other smarts later but just want to get a basic framework up intially..
the idea in the future is to be able to talk to AD via ldap queries to provision new users etc,.. but i can write scripts for that.. just want to get the basic 'application' up and running talking to a db and i can add extra fields and that later on...
i have built something basic in ms access but want to move to vb and sql to be robust and multi user..

i thought it would be best if i explain in more detail the spec of this app i want to get written so you coders can get more of an idea of time required..
i have written a basic (crude) access db that holds our customers and user details .. its yuk and i hate it... i always said if i was going to do this properly, i'd start again.. so i thought i would include some screen shots of what ive mocked up and how id like to see the basic forms..
i need to be able to add, edit, delete users - users are part of a branch office (editable) and office is part of an organization (editable)..
i want to be able to add extra tabs and buttons to do little things as i think of them.. i would also like to be able to hold a table of products and assign a product(s) to a us er, branch, or organisation.. (screen shot attached to main bid request)... and some kind of event viewer so when a field gets changed, it logs who changed it and when... but these are optional extras ;)
hope this gives enough info to get a rough time estimate..

## Platform
our environment is entrirely windows 2003 server..
ultimately the app would run on 2003 server or XP workstation, using our existing MSSQL server and talk through to our Active Directory - so all M$ i spose
