Wanted: A Scotty for our leaky Drupal 5 Starship

"The engines canna take it Cap'n! You're running Drupal 5 in a Drupal 7 world! Bits keep falling off!"
"I know Scottie, but we don't have the money for an expensive upgrade to D7. And I know this D5 ship is a bunch of adapted modules held together by string and sealing wax. But, you've gotta help us keep going."
It takes a passionate Drupal expert to be able to dive into the wiring and work out what to stick back together when an old version submits to wear and tear (and loss of compatibility), starts to slow down and leave you with just impulse power and those dim lights and you're squinting to see and all that.
And you know how when something that was working fine suddenly goes "Phut" and everyone scratches their head and says "It's just D5 dying on its feet. Upgrade it is the answer."
And there's one guy/gal in the room who instead of saying that, rolls his or her sleeves up and says "I don't know how to fix that yet, but I'm gonna work it out ...Because the Cap'n says there ain't any money for a shiny new one."
(We're slipping a bit into Firefly there, I know.)
One last thing before you decide to apply for this mission. If you are a Scottie or a Kaylee, you ARE the right (but rare) person for this mission. This next bit is what you're NOT:
We just had, for the fifth time, a bill presented to us for a grand, saying "I failed to find a solution to that problem, but here's the bill for my time. I'll keep on trying ...(Unsaid bit: 'And keep on billing and maybe it'll get fixed. Can't say when').
We find that gobsmackingly unacceptable. And so do you if you're gonna help us keep this crate flying.
