Update Wordpress Geo Theme Template and other work

A few maintenance issues needed first, than we have some other programming and database work to be done to [login to view URL] website.
Background:
We need to have our WP GEO Theme updated, and some reason our search in website stopped working. Also, the connection to our IOS app to database is not working either. Our Plugin Transposh also is not working well. All new places in database are not translating. Also, some changes to homepage, to make the website better for SEO search. Example would be the "Click here for exclusive deals" we need to change the image to code so it will translate to all languages.
We just survived a hack.. they did sql injection to our database, I hope that by updating the theme all should be okay. Otherwise we need to do some database work. Now we use site lock for protection. Looks good. so far. To sum up, start with updates to do some some repairs to database and plugins. From there do other programming work to make website better.
We have custom work, so you need to make sure you don't lose it. One of our custom plugins is a SMS Text app. Its called Coupons Delivered and Vendor Offers
Instructions for Theme Updating from GEO THEME:
If your custom work has been done inside the child theme as it should be then this should not be an issue, I would always recommend backing up your database and theme files just in case.
It is best if any custom code in your GeoTheme child theme is transposed over to the latest files.
You can update any themes that are not active without hurting the site.
I would suggest that you first upgrade and then look into any issues as there will be no point in fixing issues then upgrading especially as you are on an old version (3.5.0). use a program called Winmerge that is free and easy to find and download.
What this lets you do is compare the old file in you child theme to your new file in the latest version, you can then see the custom lines and move them over to the new files.
So to start with you will need to download the latest version of GT.
Then download your child theme locally.
Any files other than the standard child theme files compare them to the newer versions and transpose over the code.
Then upload the new child theme to your site installation using an FTP client.
Then you are ready to upgrade the site.
You don't need to download the blank theme as well but it might help you to understand what comes with it as standard before any customisations.
I would recommend you download your main GeoTheme directory just in case the developers made any changes in there, at least you will be able to revert the theme then, or you can simply rename the theme directory GeoTheme_old, then upload the new GeoTheme directory.
You will find the themes all in one place via FTP look for /wp-content/themes/ in there will be all the themes.
Also, need to look in why the IOS APPS are not working after the hack too. Lets fix the updates, search and go from there.
