modification of wordpress plugin

1. image handler in an existing wordpress plugin allows additions of images to a custom post, but if you need to remove any images from a post, the plugin intentionally deletes the images completely from the media library, not just the post. 2 custom posts of this plugin currently sort items by only 2 options, (plus ascending/descending), we would like to add a sort option of 'newest' simply based upon the date the post was created (plus ascending/descending). * security and php7 + considerations are imperative
