The auto rigger lets you place nurb surfaces in the outline of your character (spine, thighs, legs, shoulders, arms, fingers and head) in these nurbs there's joints that are contained underneath the head. Once you apply it to your character it automatically binds it. It makes the controls, joints, constraints and all the other nodes in order for the rig to function properly, All the user really needs to do is paint the weights for the character. Rigging can be annoying, tedious and most importantly time consuming. If you're a modeler you don't want your character in T-pose and if you're an animator you want to immediately jump into animating of course rather than rigging!
