I am planning to build a database driven service portal with paid access to content. Key featurs of the portal will be:
Admin Level
1. Upload Data
2. Manage Content Security Rights
3. Manage Access Control
4. Manage User Registration & Payment Processing
5. Manage CMS - Create Templates, Manage Templates
6. Tagging of Content for to put in an appropriate structure - taxonomy
User Level
1. Access to Search Interface to Query Data
2. Present Data in Tables, Charts (Live Charts, preferably Integrated with a third party tool - Hicharts)
3. Access to Articles (posted through CMS)
4. Cross-linking of Tables, Charts with articles
5. The possibility of integration with open source BI tools
I want to use Open source technology, the idea is to keep costs to minimal. A relational database is available in Excel, which will need to be migrated to a more professional open source database like MySQL. I am inclined to use PHP as my front-end. Happy to use plug-ins or any readymade tool which makes the development process swifter.
