Hello We suspect we have a security breach in our company where people are sending emails to recipients using the BCC field in an attempt to evade detection when sending emails to recipients who do not comply with the company's email policy. We need to be able to prove that this is happening before confronting the offenders and therefore require a tool or piece of software which we can use internally to view the BCC fields of our staff emails; (company policy and employee terms of contract). Unfortunatley we cannot check the suspected senders BCC fields in their Sent emails because the emails are being deleted. Our only other option is to check at the suspected recipients emails. Our IT section believe that the BCC field addresses are removed by the email client software when the email is received. So in theory if we caught the email before it was processed by the email client (Outlook 2003 in our case) and saved the email to disk and viewed it with a basic text editor we should be able to see all the Headers and thus the email addresses of all recipients including the BCC field. Whether our theory is right or wrong is not important; however we need to know if it possible to achieve our request? What we need is this: An Outlook Com Addin which throws up a message window when an email is received which has BCC entries. The message window will offer the user the opportunity to view and/or save the BCC entries to a text file. We will install this Com Addin in Outlook on all our staff machines and inform the staff that we have done this. This should stop the offenders. I hope you can help us. Thank you. Greg ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. The solution for the AddIn that I had envisaged is this: When an email is received in Outlook and if it has entries in the BCC field then I would like the AddIn to move or copy the entries in to the CC field automatically. I would then like a simple message prompt to appear to inform the user that an email (or emails) has been received which contains BCC entries. I want the message to say something like this: - - - start of message prompt - - - "You have received emails with BCC entries, these emails are: email 1: - 'The email name can just be the subject line of the email' email 2: - 'The email name can just be the subject line of the email' To view the BCC entries in the above emails then just open the email as normal and look in the CC field" - - - end of message prompt - - - This is of course just an idea and I will be happy with anything that is similar or better than my description so please feel free to suggest things. For example: should we prompt the user that emails have BCC entries when the emails are received or when the email is opened? I don't know what is easiest to code or what is even possible but I suspected we need to capture the BCC entries as soon as the email is received before Outlook removes them so I guess it is logical to inform the user at this point when the email is received rather than when the email is opened. However I don't mind either way and I am open to suggestions. Thanks very much Greg ## Platform Windows, Outlook 2000 - 2003
