(PHP CMS) Read in a file and edit only one section

We need a customized section of code writing for use with our CMS software. Please have a look at [url removed, login to view] and log in using the username “demo?? and password “demo??.

When you edit an HTML page, it is opened in a WYSIWYG editor. We would like a coder to write a method of opening a file and only displaying certain parts of the code.

For example, an HTML file might look like the following:

< p > Hello and welcome to our company home page < / p >

< ! -- start edit -->

< p > This part of the page should be loaded in the editor and can be edited < / p >

< ! -- end edit -->

< / body >

< / html >

So the user would click to edit the file above, but only the code between the < ! -- start edit --> and < ! -- end edit --> will be displayed in the editor.

Then once the user has edited the section of code, the page then needs to be saved back to the server. We have all the code for this already. All that needs doing, is the new code between the start and end edit tags must be replaced. The code above and below those tags should remain untouched.

We suggest the best method of doing this would be to open the file to be edited, store each line in a variable until an edit tag is reached. Once the edit tag is reached, store each line in another variable until the end edit tag is reached. Then again, after the end edit tag is read, read in the remainder of the page code.

The variable used to store the code between the start and end edit tags should be loaded in to the WYSIWYG editor part. Then if save is selected, written back without changing any other sections of code.

This is only our idea of how the code will work, we are open to suggestions if the process could be improved in any way!

The code must be written in PHP and work on Windows 2000 and Linux/Unix servers

## Deadline information

This must be completed and working before 30th Jan 2003. We would very much like the coder to communicate with us every day via email with status reports.

We are available on MSN and ICQ nearly 14 hours a day... we would very much like to communicate using one of these chat methods if possible.
