Hello,
I need someone to create a MS-Word 2002 mail merge document (or custom VB program) that takes ticket numbers, and ticket decriptions, from an Excel file and prints that info to blank festival tickets via a laser printer. The only real challenge in this task is that the ticket numbers must appear in barcode (we use Code 3-of-9).
I understand one solution is to simply run the ticket numbers as a barcode font. If so, fine. I do need the barcode AND the numbers to appear on the ticket (so manual entry of the numbers is also posible). I don't really care if we do this via Mail Merge, or if you wish to write a Windows VB or C# application to do the printing.
Another alternative is to run the ticket numbers through our barcoding software (we use Bokai's barcode program), then run the .BMP (or other format of your choice) through MS-Word's mail merge. If you feel comfortable doing this, that's fine. I have no preference.
Attached is a sample of the Excel worksheet will use. You decide how best to run the MS-Word mail merge. Naturally, tweaking the format of the output will require contact with the office worker running the laser to assure each object prints properly onto the sheet-fed tickets. This will require some trial-and-error via the phone.
This task MUST be completed for use NO LATER than Friday morning, so be ready to receive a call from me when you bid on this. I am willing to pay more than $100, if enhancements are offered.
I'll look forward to hearing from you.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done by Friday April 22nd. We can talk about extending this time into the weekend if required. But, we must agree to this new deadline in writting.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows in either an MS-Word 2002 Mail Merge (primary document) with barcode fonts (freeware fonts from, [login to view URL] for example, is OK).
I'll also consider a custom program in stead of using Word's mail merge. But we must talk about this first.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
## Platform
We'll send the source data in Excel.
The office machine your program will run on is a Windows-XP PC (fairly new).
If mail merge is used, the version of MS-Word is 2002.
