Overview:
I am creating a "home improvement" bidding website to allow local homeowners to find local handymen who will bid on their projects. This component has everything I need to accomplish this except one problem... It doesn't have a "location" feature for searches or alerts.
Two features that need to be added:
#1 - The ability for contractors (freelancers) to "search" for projects based on "location" (i.e. city) (see screenshot [url removed, login to view])
#2 - The ability for contractors (freelancers) to "set alerts" based on "location" (i.e. city) (see screenshot [url removed, login to view])
If it's easier to add a geo-targeting zip code function that maybe that would work as long as the contractor could search and receive alerts based on a radius of that zip code.
Also, since there will be many updates in the future for this component as well as our joomla version two things MUST be done:
#1 - Using joomla template override (example: [url removed, login to view])
#2 - Detailed logs of every code change that is made to Joomla core and Component core
This way when things are updated in the future, we can "re-produce" our changes.

There was a user that "attempted" this programming but I'm not sure if it worked. (see attachment [url removed, login to view])
NOTE!!!! You DON'T have to follow or use this method, but it was all I could find about the topic.
NOTE!!!! I DON'T even know if this worked or not. I just found it inside the support forum.
