I need someone to port code which works flawlessly in Php 4, to Php 5 where it is failing in a really strange way.
## Deliverables
A few days ago I started writing a simple chat client using Php 4 and MySQL 4. It works by sending off Java Script code that updates a Dhtml layer on the client page, which calls the server by using a simple yet powerful remote scripting technique. The chat is far from ready, it is just a prototype but the code works without any errors in Php 4. Now, my server has upgraded to Php 5 and I'm having some strange issues particularly with Internet Explorer 6.
The chat consists of two files all in total, [login to view URL] which is the page that the user views and that also keeps calling the server to refresh the message list, and [login to view URL] which is the script doing all the dirty work. The [login to view URL] page that returns the actual Java Script code, used to load fine in Php 4. Now, when calling it from IE 6 and with Php 5 on the server I experience a lot of dropouts, meaning that sometimes the script does not load at all. If I try to enter the URL to [login to view URL] directly when I have just started the browser, it always comes up with a file downloading error saying that the location is unavailable. Then, I click OK and enter the URL again, not just refreshing, and then it always loads fine. Then, during the chat session itself, messages are sometimes not posted in IE and sometimes it does not update the message cue because the script fails to load, but I've been told that it still works flawlessly in Firefox. The funny thing is, it worked fine in IE as well while php 4 was running!
Thus, my request is pretty short and simple... I need someone to fix this! I'll provide all the files once I have selected a coder, including the information about how to create the MySQL table. Of course, you need to be able to test with both Php 4 and Php 5, and Internet Explorer 6.
Note: I am reposting this as a new bid request and also attaching [login to view URL], as that is the file that has the issues and several people asked for it. it does not matter where [login to view URL] is being called from so I will not post [login to view URL] publicly.
