This project has 2 parts
1. A chrome extension that stores the pieces of an email signature. This should be very complete to include all possible parts from company name, person name, email, multiple phone numbers & social network links.
Based on the pieces, the email signature is built and inserted into an outgoing email as the email signature. (For efficiency, inserted into the gmail signature area, but not sure if that is accessible). The template for the signature should be retrieved from a webserver.
2. A website service that stores a template that will format the look of the email signature. (we will provide 4-5 templates). The chrome extension should poll the server and retrieve the "template". The goal is for all users at a company to have a standard looking signature that is controlled centrally. Some fields values like company logo, company name, website will be set from the server. The website should have a 1 page configuration that covers setting for an organization. For this proof of concept, each org would have their settings under a orgname which is the email domain. Example: [login to view URL]
The website should be a simple settings page with a choice of template and list of fields. each field is either "central" (data is filled in from the web page) or "user" (the data in the chrome ext is used). For testing the concept, we will provide a few hard coded domain names to use. No user management or login needs to be developed at this time.
I can develop this extension for you holding the signatures for email including the details you asked for . Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks...
I've recently completed a chrome extension project and I know how to handle browser local storage and how to use AJAX to communicate with external services. As for the signature, I think it should just be appended to the end of the message body. Let me know if I can help with this.
