can't disable queries from database.. need to trace and update the code. well need the database structure also, only queries will not be enough to check slower queries.

I would trace the queries from slow logs and provide suggestions to add index in appropriate tables and would optimize the tables,if needed i will do a shell script for optimization which will optimize all tables weekly once and you could get a mail from it.(cron service)

I do have experience in data base table design based on RDBMS and query optimization , so I can work on it better.

I have handled many performance tuning projects. According to my experience, following are the major areas that causes performance issues: Improper indexing Parameter sniffing Unnecessarily querying a lot of data Not applying the right filter at the right place Not using sargable conditions in queries Not using the right datatypes that causes issues in cardinality estimation Outdated statistics The method that I follow is to capture queries using extended events and then tune them. (I am attaching an example of my tuning work which is detailed at the end) The process goes in an iterative way and as follows: Capture queries that takes 2 minutes to execute and then tune them all Once done, reduce the duration filter by 30 seconds, capture the queries and tune them all. and so on... With the usage of right tools, we can make this project a successful one.
