Hi,

We are looking for a service or customisation within Exchange that interrogates the content of emails received from particular addresses and appends the subject field, depending on the result.

The SQL Server side is relatively straight forward. The email will contain a fixed string ("RecordID: "), followed by a string which is 8 alphanumeric characters, then a "-" (dash) then a single alphanumeric, then a number greater than zero. eg: "02C686FF-W26968"

We will write a SQL scalar function which will return a string (up to 16) characters when called with the variable above determined from the email.

We then need the service or Exchange to append the Subject with the String, and continue processing the email as normal.

Currently running exchange 2010, however we would want it to work with future versions that may be deployed.

We see this as either:

1) A customisation of exchange

2) A service that can be placed on alternative Linux\windows server before being forwarded on. (.net language preferred)

Either can be proposed, we'd probably prefer to keep things with exchange where possible.
