Hi, I'm a Managed Service Provider and webhoster from the Netherlands and can fully support you with this project. I worked with a lot of UniFi equipment and also pfSense. You need to do both, use Ubiquity Network Controller to configure the switch and configure VLAN on both switch and pfSense. Without network controller the UniFi switch is just dumb.
