JS Category Tags for BigCommerce Category Pages

We are using bigcommerce and would like to improve navigation on our category pages using an elegant nav tags including small relevant images. Using JS libraries, produce navigation tags which use the big commerce category structure (parent category, child subcategory 1, child subcategory 2, etc) to populate. Images will be custom and uploaded separately to big commerce image library to populate within tags. Where category tree contains additional child data, this should populate automatically. Where there is insufficient sub-category data this should be customisable to display relevant search terms. Must be mobile responsive and work with bigcommerce themes without any effects on the operation of the site or platform. . Code to be inserted as HTML within big commerce category pages.
