Update my website to turn traffic into leads and set up SEO to bring in more "Good/Relevant" leads

I am the owner of a residential construction company based in Toronto, Canada. I had a friend (not a webpage designer) build my website a few years back and it has served it's purpose until recently.
In the past year my business has grown and I am starting to have more traffic to my site, but the traffic is not translating into more good leads.
I want someone (or multiple people) to redesign my website so that it is more professional looking and has more relevant content but more importantly so that it clearly answers all the questions that people have when they visit my site, gives them confidence that my company is the right company for the job, and translates the traffic into more leads.
I also want my site to have the best possible SEO set up to generate the right kind of leads for the type if work that I want to take on (ie: larger scale residential projects and not minor repairs).
