Children's Book Compiler and Editor

The author of six published novels and a collection of short stories (see my freelancer profile for full details), I have over ten years' editing experience. In that time, I have worked with all kinds of different writers - from first-time authors and the self-published to the far more established - writing in all kinds of different genres: literary, historical, YA, sci-fi, fantasy, children's, crime/thriller etc. Familiar with all publishing standards, I would edit your manuscript in three stages. Firstly, a basic edit to eradicate any typos, grammatical lapses etc. Secondly, a more creative/techincal edit focusing on sentence structure, word choice/flow and, of course, the kind of formatting which best suits your series of stories. Thirdly, a final edit to ensure that your work has that essential professional polish. Additional info: I have extensive knowledge of both the US & UK markets, in regards to agents/publishers and would happily assist you in drafting your approach (introductory letter and synopsis), I use Track Changes in Word and can make a start right away. The children's market (I have worked on several children's books over the last twelve months) is very competitive, but there are some wonderful indie publishers out there on the look for high quality material, especially if the book is accompanied by fine illustrations that have already been commissioned).

That would be the first step — we could start by editing one of them and I could give you some guidance from there. You would get an illustrator/designer and they would take the text and make a PDF and then you would get that proofread. You could self-publish or go about getting an agent - depending on how good the books are. I think there's research to be done on your part to decide which way to go.
