Hello, I am looking for talented freelancers to help me get my online startup off the ground. I am starting an online task marketplace service like Task Rabbit in the USA and Airtasker in Australia. I am based in Australia. I am happy to provide wireframes/mockups of what I require however if you visit these websites ([login to view URL]) you will have a good idea of what I need. Now, my difference is that I plan to make this International. Therefore, someone in the USA, could post a task request for someone to do something in Australia. I need an expert who can provide a recommendation as to whether I make this site Ruby on Rails, PHP or simply use a wordpress template to begin. If we could simply utilise this theme ([login to view URL]) and completely rework the design, yet keep the same back end, that would be good. I require an ability for users to select the currency they will be paying in. For example, if someone is posting a domestic job for completion within Australia, they will be able to pay in AUD. Hello Ted, Project Analysis: As per the analysis there will be 4 modes of users over the site. Visitor Mode They will have facility to browse entire features and static content over the site. They can access some of features over the site to avail more services they need to make payment. Employer Mode Employer will be able to post their job over the site and while posting their job they can select job category, zip code and range within which they want to hire worker. Worker Mode Worker will be able to find jobs over the site through search jobs in different categories &will be able to apply over that particular job with their message. Administrative Mode Admin Mode of application would be developed for overall management of the system. Hello there! I am a full-stack developer proficient both in front-end and back end. I read your description. Well i believe wordpress is out of the question for this really. It has un necessary functionality thus making it more slow. If you looking for something that you can scale, Ruby on Rails is a possible solution for this, sites like Github,twitter,shopify use Ruby on Rails. What i suggest is a custom Ruby on Rails webapp with what you just need. No more, no less. I can provide you with basic SEO, user authentications, task rabbit functionality, send emails, facebook/twitter/etc integration and whatever else is needed. We are a New Zealand based group of web developers. Given the complexity involved I don't think you can achieve the kind of functionality you're looking for within your budget. My suggestion would be to get a working mock-up based on word-press, and use that to acquire outside sources if funding if need-be to get a proper database/advertising effort underway. Realistically it's a complex site to do properly, but it'd be relatively easy to get the design and front end user interface completed so you can show off to people and get buy-in from others if you need. Hi i'm Kevin I'm from the UK I'm a web developer and SEO expert. Ok your own task site sounds great lets make it great. I seen you had the us there but no UK Go with Drupal WordPress will cost a lot more to develop long term PHP your coders will be cheaper easier to find. You could use that theme but id start with a bit research what problems can you solve on current market places i can think of a few. Payment now that will be a little harder because your not selling a product straight away your using cards so PCI compliance a must both uk and usa. I dont have a great portfolio cutpay being my main place i developed it it does payment merchants both gateways and card machines. I'm working on my own little site at the moment a 3 month project. If nothing else you had a little advice off me.
