Send mail from the command line with Mozilla Thunderbird

Hi, I need to send mail from the command line, I read that this is possible with Mozilla Thunderbird, how can I do?

Once I used Blat to send mail from DOS but since the provider has switched to the ssl connection it does not work anymore!
