I would like to create a complete controller for a parrot egg incubator. This is what I would like the controller to do. 1. Controll fan speed (in a similar fashion as a light dimmer) 2. Control temperature via PID controll and be able to autotune. 3. Use a remote temperature sensor (thermistor or exposed thermocouple with 1.2m leads) 4. Be able to keep temperature within a tenth of a degree. 5. Turn on a humidifier (on/off method) 6. Have a remote humidity sensor (1.2m leads) 7. Turn on/off a light bulb 8. Turn on/off a turning motor. (Have the ability to turn motor on and off multiple times a day and controll duration the motor will be on) 9. Incase of a power failure, has to be able to remember the last settings. 10. Be between 110v to 120v (USA) 11. Have a touch screen to enter settings and display current temperature and humidity on screen. I would like this to be some sort of microcontroller (Arduino, Raspberry Pi or something else) The following are features that I would like to have but not necessary: *Be able to see and controll settings remotely via a smart phone. * Have an alarm only to notify me if the temperature over shot the set value. (Example: If I set the temperature at 37.5 and for some reason the incubator air temperature reaches/surpasses 39.5c, it will notify me. The incubator will be and insulated unit and have a volume of 0.25 cubic meter (50cm h x 50cm w x 50cm l) I would like to own the design and the rights to it. Also I would like a prototype built, I have a few more upcoming projects and I hope to find the right person to start a long lasting business relationship with. If budget is not a concern and you have a plan for selling this product in quantity, then I can design this product very nicely. I would say, use a better controller than arduino. I have designed many products using industrial sensors and display which are kind of similar in nature. My bid includes the firmware development part also and in fact I will assemble two boards (Yes, I have facilities for doing that) and one will be shipped to you as well for testing in real environment. I will also assist in minor tweaking which will be needed after installing the device in actual environment. Another point to note is, kind of light dimmer won't work good for fans so you will have to have this part separate from main control unit and need to build that part as induction motor speed controller. If you want to control the temperature to within 0.1 degree for such a small insulated enclosure, then you will also need a cooler or a way of introducing “colder” air of a known temperature. You can forget about using a thermocouple, they don't have the accuracy. Thermistor accuracy can be as good a +/- 0.1 degree (0.2 degrees total) and they will cost around $25-$50 each in small quantities. Do you really need +/-0.05 degree (0.1 degrees total)?
