We have an application with ASP:NET backend providing webservices via C# and Angular frontend. Our API currently auth users with normal loging/password process using Oauth It will be placed in envroment with SSO, where the customer requires to use their SSO. So how I see it now: Customer will have simple HTTP-Link to our app on one of their webpages: - when the user klick on the link, the browser opens a URL (example [login to view URL]) - we need to generate SAML-AuthnRequest and send it to IdP - IdP realize, that the user is already logged in, and send a "HTTP-POST-Request", with the SAMLAssertion to the AsseritonConsumerService defined in our SP-Metadata - we take it from there auth the user with our old Oauth system and redirect him to the our app - if the user is not logged in, IdP will will show a login form with username and password fields to let him login

I have implemented he SAML auth recently in one of my project. WE used auth0 to send the request, once we received the request we verified the auth token if its verified we through user to website else ask redirect to the login page of their portal.
