Q1: We use Solidworks, the drawing I share with you shall be Solidworks files, you able to open and work on them? The design you complete I must be able to open with Solidworks. Perhaps we test it out. Attached are the Solidworks files I'm sharing, you try open up, do some modifications, send back to me, see if it works. Thanks.
Q2: Project wise, below are some more details, pls assess and see if the scope is something you can handle, thanks.
Descriptions:
It's a part seating design, seating part A onto part B, with 3-2-1 datum structure, proper spring force to bias part A onto part B datum pads, complete with a latch / unlatch feature for ease of removal of part A from part B.
More descriptions:
Parts involved are small, approx. 40 x 30 x 10mm, not plastic, rather machined-blocks. To ensure good seating we probably need 3-2-1 datum structure (in our case, probably 3Z, 2X, 1Y?). Some kind of bias force may be good to bias parts against these datum points.
Other considerations:
1. The weight of block matters, I don't have the density of the material now, take it as a metal block, brass block, etc.
2. To be details, frictions between Parts A and B also need to be considered.
3. External forces (part movement, transportation, external obstructions, etc.) also should be factored in when designing bias forces.
4. Bias force, in return, also adds to stition force (frictions), i.e. a Z bias force pressing downwards would increase friction for X, Y bias forces to work against.
Timeline and deliverables wise:
- Understand it may not be easy to engineer the forces. In phase 1, I'd appreciate if you are able to cater space for adding springs (coil, leaf springs, etc.). Complete the version with these springs, i.e. besides releasing design for Parts A and B, also release bias springs* Parts C, D, E.
- At end of Phase 1, I'd trigger payment, move on to proto, build and test. I'm likely to trigger Phase 2 (improvements to Phase 1), if you're working on Phase 1, and interested to carry on to Phase 2, chances are we shall continue to work through it.
*Note: I understand there's chance that springs may not be required, e.g. weight of block is able to bias itself downwards.
