Build a simple ajax interface in Django

We have two tables, one representing names of items from various providers, and one representing canonical names. We need an html interface to help people find and set the canonical name for items that don't have one, and the backend code to handle setting this in the database. The interface should query the server for autocomplete of canonical names and allow the user to select one.
