My projects at office (full time), have 100+ tables and millions of rows in big table. So optimizing is key to ensure the client do not suffer delay. I suggest you to look for Caching of some data on the application level. SQL Server only cannot make your application fast in many cases. But performance starts with tuning your DB.

I have experience working with remote servers and configuring a different range of services among these SQL databases. So I have the expertise for your project. What I would need to know though is if the database is in a remote linux server or in a windows server. I would also require the documentation of the relational model for the database in order to improve the model and the tables. The project description is a bit vague but I can do general index optimization to ensure good query performance. I would also look into the general structure of tables, foreign keys, constraints and data quantity. Regarding the replication I have many years experience with transactional replication and there are some common pitfalls you need to be made aware of. By experience I know SQL server replication can be a thing of beauty when it is working properly but also a complete disaster when it's not :) I am new to freelancer.com and will go the extra mile for my first projects for good review.
