Create Off-line (non real time) conversion process from all video types to FLV

Here's a short overview of the system flow process: 1) A content object (non-flv video) gets deposited on the server, and related data record gets deposited into a SQL Server 2005? database table. The row of data is marked as Pending=1. A business object framework is available on top of that data strcuture that allows to retrieve pending content objects, update related content files, and otherwise manipulate the content objects. No database work will need to be done. A DLL will be provided to inherit the business object framework, and related source code will be provided. 2) The program detects the occurence, comes along ? and grabs the uploaded content business object and the file. 3)? The program converts the file to FLV, using [login to view URL] or any commercially available wrappers to it. 4) The program standardizes the size and quality? of the FLV using pre-defined configuration settings. 5) The program creates a thumbnail for the movie by dividing the time length of the movie in half and grabbing a frame from that point in time, and creating a PNG image out of it, with size of the thumbnail specified by pre-defined configuration settings 6) The program posts the thumbnail back as a separate content object (the business framework for that is available) 7) The program updates the content business object with the converted file, and saves it. 8) The process is repeated infinitely. ## Deliverables **Some general application requirements (please do not miss!)** 1) The program must be written in .NET 3.5, C#, and be realized as either a WCF service, or windows service. The preference is WCF service. 2) The program must be able to operate in multithreaded mode, processing several pending objects simultaneously to utilize the server capacity appropriately. Number of simultaneous active threads must be configurable through application settings. 3) The program must include an MSI to be effortlessly installed. 4) The ffmpeg utility, and any commercial wrappers to it must be installed as part of the MSI 5) The program must accept real time wakeup calls that will alert it to the presence of a content file available for processing.? This should be realized through either MSMQ (if windows service) or WCF service call (if WCF service) 6) The program must utilize either Enterprise Library Logging (Windows Service) or WCF Activity Tracing (WCF Service) to log all processing points and any processing failures. The levels of logging (tracing) must be configurable through the application configuration (which is consistent with how logging in either framework would be utilized as a matter of standard). Logging categories would be roughly Checkpoint (Information), Success, Error, CrticalError 7) The program source code must use C# XML comment notation for all classes and methods. Source code must be clean, and general good practices for .NET programming must be followed, as relates to naming conventions, length of methods, use of memory and other resources. **NOTE: The framework for manipulating content business objects will be provided to the winning bidder. Nothing complicated, just a DLL and a namespace to inherit in your code. ** **NOTE 2: we are looking for a long term development partner.
