Specification Google Alerts Frontend Introduction We want to develop a Proof of Concept (PoC) for a web interface which is a frontend to Google Alerts. This frontend shall gather data from alerts, save them and display them to the user. The user will never know that the system is based on Google Alerts. The script should be basic. Having a simple, but nice frontend. Actually the frontend can be like the one of Google Alerts. Actually it is a cloen of the frontend. The only difference to Google Alert would be that the script should not crawl the internet like Google does, it should rather obtain the data form Google Alerts and present it to the user within an interface adapted to our corporate identity. In the future we plan to extend the script including email alerts, xls download etc. Furthermore it shall extract data from some websites that are not exposed to Google Alerts. However, this would be another project. If the provider works good we will definitely stick to him. Requirements • LAMP infrastructure using php, mysql and linux server User Stories Basically the functionality for the user should be the same as in Google Alerts. The only difference should be that I want to organize the keywords in folder (so called projects). Main functionality is: • Access is restricted by login • User can have several projects (projects have a name and keyword set) • Projects can have several keywords • Matching types and frequencies similar to Google Alerts • User can add, change and delete keywords • User can add, change, delete projects • Users can see results and can select a certain period of time of results. And all other that we know from Google Alerts.
