We require a web based application (a single page basically) that would allow to select a UNC path (either local or network), then would proceed to that location which will contain the music info in the following format:
\...the directory tree varies, as well as the depth - the entire tree has to be traversed
\some_album (last in the tree - no subfolders)
This folder will have a bunch of digital music files, a single image file for the CD cover, and a single XML file containing the description of this album. Files & XML descriptions are always at the same tree level in the same folder.
The application will have to scan all folders under the specified one, locate & parse all XML files, collect the info & store it into the MS SQL DB.
The application will have to check that all digital files, and images are present according to the XML, and write all error into a text log file in readable format, containing a brief description of the problem & the path to missing files.
· When filling up the database the application will have to
perform some basic calculations
A list of rules tied up with the DB schema will be provided upon request.
No file copy operations are required.
Access to the DB will have to be through stored procedures only.
The application itself should be written in ASP.NET & C#.
For XML schema & more details please see the file attached.
