Children's Book Illustrator Wanted We're looking for a talented Illustrator who can help convert a story concept from the written word into a child's imagination. The book will be self-published and as we are funding the process, copyright for the illustrations will need to be signed over in a legal document to our self-publishing company. * 30 illustrations will be needed for inclusion within chapters of the book to enhance the story. * Another 20 illustrations of characters and settings for free download bonus materials such as fact files. * A book cover depicting the storyline Please quote for each of these separately to make up one total because if we like your illustration style but our budget does not stretch to your quote we may decide to limit the number of chapter illustrations or the fact file drawings or we may do the book cover elsewhere – hence our need to see separated quotes. You will need to provide a web link or document to show your illustration style. You will also need to provide references that marry up to these illustrations so we can verify that you did them and ask your client what it was like working with you. Failing to provide these will get your application ignored – sorry but we are funding this project and therefore deadly serious about ensuring this children's book hits the right spot with the best drawings but the illustrator who we believe is able to provide this service. Please note: this is the first in a series of books (with 3 already written) and many more plotting ideas to come. So don't quote this as a one off – if it works out well with you, we will expect you to do the balance of the series to ensure consistency in the illustration style. * You will do these illustrations in strong pen and ink or pencil drawing skills in colour with the ability for them to easily be printed in B&W if our budgeting does not stretch to a full colour children's book. So all illustrations will need to be clear enough to be transferred to B&W. * Some of the drawings will need to show different background settings (eg. Where the story is set so you will work with the author to achieve this and we will provide a brief along with the relevant chapters that you will illustrate) * Other illustrations will need to reflect the characters and their emotions or moods as they progress through the story * All illustrations should fit the same styling. * The illustrations need not be complicated and intricate – as long as they are able to show the reader in a 7-12 year age group what is happening in the story. Remembering the illustrations are to enhance the storyline not explain it fully as this age group only needs visual stimulation for their stories not full explanatory drawings. Please send sample of your work - we have our own idea that will need to be followed throughout the series, but we'd like to see the quality and style of your work before deciding on the right illustrator for this project. We are looking for only responsible and communicative illustrators that will follow the requirements (both quality and deadlines).
