There is a type of pump called a coil or spiral pump. Searching this term on youtube will give you many videos. There is also information on wikipedia here [login to view URL], and more can be found by searching google. I can also include a link to my dropbox with my research for interested freelancers. Questions to be answered: Is there a theoretical limit to the amount of water head pressure that can be generated by such a pump? Please explain. How does the diameter of the coils affects the amount of pressure generated? How many coils are required to generate a pressure head of 100 metres? What is the minimum diameter of the coils required to be? How many coils are required to generate a pressure head of 200 metres? What is the minimum diameter of the coils required to be? Please respond to the brief with your qualification to answer these questions. There may be further work for the winning freelancer to develop a mathematical model that predicts the behaviour of a pump when given the relevant variables.

Hi, I am a graduate Civil & Structural Engineer working in a reputed company. I have an excellent academic & research background, so I can definitely help you here. Hi, I have found answers for first two question. I will give answers for others If I am hired. ( With further research) 1). Yes, there is a limit to the maximum head due to practical issues. Typically maximum head that can be obtained is around 8-10 m from both pumps. 2). If you need to increase the output you have to increase the diameter. Larger the diameter, larger the output. I have done 50% research at the moment. I can give further more comprehensive answers if you hire me. Looking forward for the job. Thanks
