Do not draw or include boring anatomy details of the heart, chambers, valves etc…. instead focus on physiology (function). The key is homeostasis! The physiology in the Introduction ought to lead into your key aim/hypothesis of the lab – so if you are testing the CVS systems responses to something – then WHY is this important? What is the role of the CVS in responding to differing physical states (awake, exercise, sleep, rests??) why does the CVS HAVE to respond what would happen if it did not? Are there any literature, research, other documents (eg. Public health, NHS) issues/advice about how and why the heart ought to be responsive to changing body needs? Has anyone else measured this and what conclusions were found (ie does exercise improve the CVS, circulation, heart rate, life span etc…)?
In your discussion think of WHAT your data showed and then it might be an idea to use subheadings which match your different ‘variables’ (things you tested in the lab) and then DISCUSS why the data turned out as it did, was it expected (as in the literature) or if not why not (researcher problem, not a big enough group, lack of familiarity with equipment etc…) or were the subjects too fit/unfit/young/old etc etc…
SO if your subjects responded with an increase in heart rate from exercise is this the expected result in literature? Did the amount of increase correspond with literature or does this tell you something about the subjects fitness/health etc? What process in the body causes the heart rate to increase in response to exercise (do you need to include the neural control?, baroreceptors etc you must include
